Fourth Degree

Don Haher

Don Haher began studying Itosu Kai Shito Ryu Karate in 1981 under Sensei Charles Hobbib. In 1986 he tested for his Shodan under karate legend Fumio Demura. After College (1990) he studied Aikido and began to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. During this time Mr. Haher operated a dojo out of his home and the Worcester NY central school. Mr. Hayer began to study American Kenpo under Jeff Speakman and Burt Randio (deceased) in Glenville NY. Mr. Haher has received training on a regular basis from Mr John Sepulveda. During the late 1990s Mr. Haher partnered with Robert Gugenberger to run a Kenpo school in Gloversville NY. Recently Mr. Haher has studied Inosanto style Escrima and is a Sayoc Kali student. Currently Mr. Haher teaches private students out of the Upstate Kenpo location in Glenville NY, owned by long time friend and senior Daryl Perkins. Mr. Haher received his 4th degree Black Belt from John Sepulveda in 2006, and his 5th degree Black Belt in 2011.

Third Degree

Glenn Kinnie	Glenn studied Uechi Ryu karate (an Okinawan style) from 1974 until 1992, earning godan (5th degree black belt) from John Izzo. In 1992 he began working with Bert Randio in American Kenpo Karate, under Jeff Speakman in 1994, and Mike Cappi in 2000. In 2001 Glenn was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt, and started with Mr. Perkins. Glenn was awarded the rank of 2nd degree black belt in 2007. Glenn was awarded the rank of 3rd degree black belt in 2010.
Eric Scott	Eric studied Shorin Ryu Matsubayashi karate (an Okinawan style) from 1972 until 1999, earning nidan (2nd degree black belt) from Mr. Quai Wong of Toronto. In 1999 he began working with Bert Randio in American Kenpo Karate. After Mr. Perkins took over the dojo Eric continued with him. Eric was awarded the rank of 2nd degree black belt in 2007, and the rank of 3rd degree in 2011.

Second Degree

Peter Scott	Peter studied Shorin Ryu Matsubayashi karate (an Okinawan style) from 1983 until 1997, earning ikkyu (brown belt). In 1999 he began working with Bert Randio in American Kenpo Karate. After Mr. Perkins took over the dojo Peter continued with him. Peter was awarded the rank of 2nd degree black belt in 2007.
Joe Schell	Joe began studying the martial arts in 1999, when he began working with Bert Randio in American Kenpo Karate. After Mr. Perkins took over the dojo Joe continued with him. Joe was awarded the rank of 2nd degree black belt in 2007.
Patrick Baird	Patrick began studying kenpo at the age of 5, under Steve Holden, who was associated with Jeff Speakman. In 1999 he switched to Bob Gugenberger, who was associated with John Sepulveda. Patrick was awarded the rank of 2nd degree black belt in 2009.
Al Piraino	Al Piraino has been studying the martial arts for about 25 years. He has trained in several arts, including Shotokan, Aikido, and Jiujitsu. He has earned a second degree black belt in both Japanese and Okinawin Goju Ryu. Mr. Piraino joined Upstate Kenpo Karate in February 2005 and earned his 1st degree black belt in September of 2008. Mr. Piraino served in the US Army as a Paratrooper and is a local law enforcement officer who brings real world experience to training. He was promoted to 2nd degree in October of 2011.

First Degree

Gary Barga	Gary was a student of Mr. Steet's for 8 years, and then of Mr. Perkins' for 10 years. He is a resident of West Milton, Ohio.
Richard Saunders	Richard was a student of Mr. Steet's for 8 years, and then of Mr. Perkins' for 10 years. He is a resident of Bradford, Ohio.
Burt Schwab	Rumor has it that Burt was a student of Skip Hancock. More details as they become available.

Junior Black Belt

Owen Jones

Owen joined Upstate Kenpo four years ago, and has worked very hard to achieve the rank of Junior Black Belt by the age of 13.
